My name is Murphy Huseman, your dedicated LPC based in Amarillo, Tx. At Mindfulness with Murphy, I offer a safe space for both individual and couples counseling sessions. I believe that every client should be treated as a person. In doing so, I think it is important as a counselor to validate their thoughts and feelings.
I wanted to become a counselor to give back and really help individuals process their thoughts and experiences and ultimately be able to help people heal and grow. I strive to meet my client's needs when they come to me for help, and by doing so I customize my technique and treatment plan around each individual client, why they are there, and their goals.
My passion is couples/marriage counseling and I am trained in the Gottman method, however, I do have experience with individuals who struggle with grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, life changes, and coping skills. I also provide support for the LBGTQIA+ community.
My overall goal is to meet my clients needs and goals by tracking their progress throughout our treatment plan and adjust as needed. My techniques range from person-centered, Gestalt, REBT, mindfulness, CBT, DBT, and others.
Discover the transformative power of storytelling in your own life. Share your unique narrative with me and together, we'll create a path towards healing and growth.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated from Liberty University with my master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have been in education for over 18 years having roles in Special Education Teaching and Administration. I am also a certified School Counselor. I have been working in Llano ISD for 7 years and continue to support the district as a Mental Health Counselor.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in many areas to include anxiety, depression, trauma, social skills, relationship skills, and understanding emotions. I incorporate a variety of modalities to include Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Internal Family Systems as well as an eclectic combination depending on what the client is responding to in our session.
I work with clients to build confidence and empower them with the tools to validate their feelings, make productive decisions, build self-confidence, and how to practice self-care and mindfulness skills that work for the client.

Change is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t mean it comes easy. If you are navigating a major life transition, adjusting to a new culture, or trying to manage your health and well-being, it is easy to feel completely disconnected from yourself. Perhaps you are an immigrant or a first-generation individual trying to balance who you were with who you are expected to be here, all while carrying the heavy, unspoken weight of complex family dynamics. You might look at your life and realize you don’t even know what 'box' you fit into anymore. You are working so hard to hold everything together, but internally, you feel fragmented, overwhelmed, or stuck in survival mode.
I help people untangle these exact layers. Using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and person centered therapy, we won’t just talk about your stress—we will look at the different parts of you that are trying to manage it. We will get curious about the parts of you holding onto the pressure to assimilate, the parts carrying old family or sibling wounds, and the parts protecting you from the pain of not knowing where you belong. By understanding your internal system, we can help these overwhelmed parts step back, allowing you to regain your core clarity, confidence, and calm. We can’t stop life from changing, but we can help you feel whole and grounded as you navigate it.
As someone who moved to the U.S. as a young adult, I know firsthand the challenges of relocation, assimilation, and finding your footing in a complex world. I provide a warm, non-judgmental space specifically for individuals and first-generation professionals who are ready to make sense of their story and heal from the inside out. If you are ready to stop trying to force yourself into a box and start feeling like yourself again, I invite you to reach out. Let’s schedule a free consultation call today.
